At 12 pm till 8 pm the day program will be open for the broad public. The Filmfest and Arts Exposition can be accessed through the main entrance of the Vooruit. Stewards will guide and provide information; brochures with the full program will be at your disposal. Bear in mind that 15 minutes for curfew the stewards will ask politely to leave the venue for the switch to the night program.

The Vooruit can hold 1.800 visitors at the same time. How to get there? The best way to Vooruit is by public transport! Travel directions
Public transport
From Brussels Airport to Gent Sint-Pieters station In the airport building, go to level –1 and take the train with direction Gent Sint-Pieters station (we advise you not to take the train which passes through Aalst, because this will take longer!). There is a direct train every hour, but you can also take the train to Brussel Noord station at the airport, where about three trains an hour leave for Ghent. From Amsterdam Centraal station to Gent Sint-Pieters station In Amsterdam Centraal station, take the train with direction Brussel Zuid station. Get off in Antwerpen Central station. There is a train to Gent Sint Pieters station every half hour. You can also get off at Gent Dampoort station, where you can take buses 6, 70 to 72, 76 to 78 to Vooruit (stop: Zuid) From Gent Sint-Pieters station you can get to Vooruit with: * tram 1 (stop: Verlorenkost or Savaanstraat – this is the most frequent tram) * tram 21 or 22 (stop: Zuid) * bus 55 (S), 57, 58 (S), 70 to 72, 76 to 78 (stop: Zuid) When getting off at the Zuid stop, keep the library to your left and the shopping centre to your right and walk up to Vooruit. Cross the street at the lights and take the Lammerstraat, straight ahead of you. Turn left at the end of the street (at the lights). Vooruit is practically on the corner. From the Verlorenkost stop continue along the Kortrijksepoortstraat, then turn right at the Bagattenstraat. Continue along this street until you arrive at Vooruit (right in front of you). From the Savaanstraat stop walk back a bit and take the Bagattenstraat to your left. Travel directions for deliveries and technical services From Antwerp, Brussels, Oostende, Kortrijk (E40, E17)
By car Keep the evening rush hour in mind! Leave on time. You can still eat a meal, a sandwich or soup in the café. Coming from Brussels Airport Coming from the airport, take the A201 direction Brussels. At exit 4 take the R0. Then drive on to the E40 via exit 10 (directions continue below). Coming from Antwerp, Brussels, Oostende, Kortrijk (E40, E17) Take the ‘Gent Centrum’ exit, then follow the ‘Alle Richtingen’ sign. Once you’re off the viaduct, turn left at the lights (under the viaduct). This will lead you onto the Ghent ring road. At the next lights, take a right turn, into the Overpoortstraat. Continue along this street until you arrive at the Sint-Pietersplein. There’s an inexpensive underground parking lot located here. Vooruit is situated on the Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat, at walking distance from the parking lot (see also: parking) To drive into Ghent via the Zuidplein (underground parking lot near Vooruit) take the ‘Gent centrum’ exit on the E40 or the E17. Then follow the ‘Gent Centrum’ sign once again instead of the ‘Alle Richtingen’ sign. Once you’re off the viaduct, go straight on at the light (the Zuidpark is on you left side). Keep in the left lane. Like this, you can drive into the parking lot. When leaving the parking lot, keep the library to your left and the shopping centre to your right and walk up to Vooruit (see also below, under parking) Deliveries for the Balzaal, Theaterzaal, Café or Domzaal are made at the entrance in the Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat. Take the ‘Gent Centrum’ exit , then follow the ‘Alle Richtingen’ sign. Once you’re off the viaduct, turn left at the lights (under the viaduct). This will take you onto the ring road. At the second lights, turn right into the Overpoortstraat. After passing the Sint-Pietersplein, this becomes the Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat, where Vooruit is located. To drive into Ghent via the Zuidplein (underground parking lot) follow the ‘Gent Centrum’ sign twice, instead of the ‘Alle Richtingen’ sign. Continue along the Zuidparklaan until you pass the Graaf van Vlaanderenplein. Drive straight on, into the Vlaanderenstraat and take the first street to your left (Oudescheldestraat). Turn left into the Kuiperskaai. Then turn right into the Lammerstraat. Turn left into the Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat. Vooruit is just around the corner. Deliveries for the Concertzaal are made via Parijsberg. Take the ‘Gent Centrum’ exit, then follow the ‘Alle Richtingen’ sign. Once you’re off the viaduct, turn left at the lights (under the viaduct). This will take you onto the ring road. At the second lights, turn right into the Overpoortstraat. After passing the Sint-Pietersplein, this becomes the Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat, where Vooruit is located. Drive past Vooruit and take the next street left. This is the Lammerstraat. On your right there is an an alley (Parijsberg) where deliveries can be made. To drive into Ghent via the Zuidplein (underground parking lot) follow the ‘Gent Centrum’ sign twice, instead of the ‘Alle Richtingen’ sign. Continue along the Zuidparklaan until you pass the Graaf van Vlaanderenplein. Drive straight on, into the Vlaanderenstraat and take the first street to your left (Oudescheldestraat). Turn left into the Kuiperskaai. Then turn right into the Lammerstraat. On your left ther is an alley where deliveries can be made Parking * see map (see map on dropbox folder “practical info website”) Changed situation From 01/10/2008 you have to pay till midnight to park your car in the area surrounding Vooruit. The underground parking lots Zuid (around the corner), Sint-Pietersplein (300 m from Vooruit – see leaflet (see map on dropbox folder “practical info website”)) or Kouter also charge a fee. During the event: all lost objects are taken to the cloak room. After the event: Any objects that are found will be transferred to the Berlinaire offices. Please contact info@berlinaire.com in case you’ve lost something. PHOTOGRAPHS, VIDEO OR AUDIO RECORDINGS
The organization will be taking photographs and making audio & video recordings of the event. By entering the festival venue, all visitors agree on any publication, copying or use of these images. TERMS OF GOOD BEHAVIOUR
We advise all visitors to strictly respect any given instructions by the security and stewards. Sharp objects, dogs, glass, cans, bottles, professional A/V material (audio/video), cameras with a zoom lens bigger than 38mm, pocket and other knives, drinking cups, drugs, guns or other dangerous objects. The security staff can deny access to the event to anyone carrying any of these prohibited items and dangerous objects, even if this person is in possession of a valid ticket. BERLINAIRE wants to offer its visitors a safe event. Therefore, there will be a comprehensive ID check and body search before entering the actual festival zone. Berlinaire is a high quality audio visual arts festival. We should inform you that both the police force & the office of the public prosecutor will pursue a “zero tolerance” policy regarding drugs. Any visitors carrying drugs will be pulled in by the police force and automatically handed over to the office of the public prosecutor.
